Cooper in the drink....again

“Oops I did it again”, not only a Britney Spears song, but Cooper has begun to use this as HIS theme song. It all started the last day of Opening Day weekend. We were walking off the dock for the last time, yes, the last time. There are a family of geese on-shore, Cooper looks over and….well walks off the dock as he is looking left. SPLASH….Cae grabs him out of the water, and all was good, we mostly. It later was determined that the retrival of Cooper was at the expense of Cae’s cell phone into Lake Union. So this afternoon we got our dinghy in the water. As always cooper provided assistance in the process, and has been in and out of it all afternoon. This evening we came home, and Cooper thought it would be a good idea to jump from the dock to the dinghy and then onto the boat. Well, oops he did not quite make it. Cocktail hour on our neighbors boats were disrupted and we have a wet and angry min-pin.

As Promised, Opening Day

As promised, here are the highlights for the last couple of weeks. First, GONE WITH THE WIND was in the “shop” for most of April. With us being at the golf tournament and Andy’s wedding, we felt there was no need to move her out of Lake Union. It is for this reason that we have “gone dark” recently.

As I mentioned in my previous blog, Opening Day was a blast. GONE WITH THE WIND was on the end of the dock with a Med tie, or stern in. This lets us walk on and off the boat…oh yeah…Cooper to. Cae and I enjoyed having a good number of friends come down and visit. This included Scott and Carol from our previous post, but also John and Russ, Allen, Hill and Dom, plus the Cordicks.
Dock 0 2007 was an overwhelming success, and Cae and I look forward to hosting our guests next year.

A lot was learned this past year, but the best part was that Cae and I are coordinating an SYC Active-Intermediate party for Opening Day 2008. At this point, the negotiations are just getting started, but we plan on having some fun and getting more SYC AI’s involved.

Last weekend, May 11th, we spent the weekend polishing the chrome and cleaning the boat after Opening Day. It did not rain all weekend, which was great. The temperature at night was still getting down into the 40’s, so we ran the heater a good deal. The best part of the weekend was watching the US Coast Guard perform a demonstration of an in water retrieval. The pictures are below, but the copter was not far at all. Cae, Ali, Cooper and I stood on the bow of the boat and actually got wet from the helicopter spray. It was all pretty crazy, and one of the most surreal experiences.

Off to dinner, but we will let you know how the weekend goes!

Rainy Bainbridge Island

Opening Day 2007 is now a distant memory. We spent five nights on the boat, and discovered that we are having battery challenges. Other than that, it was a great week. Scott and Carol came down to the dock for the Royal Victoria party, and it was a great time. We flew a 4X6 Canadian flag up the mast, and it really made a splash on the dock.

This weekend we are in Bainbridge Island for the second weekend in the world. The weather is, well, rainy! That is after four days of absolutely beautiful weather. Such is life living in the Northwest. Our plans this week are pretty low key. The dinghy needs to get blown up, and locating the dinghy motor mount has proven to be more challenging than one would expect.

In addition to blowing up the dinghy we will post the pictures from last week. A little insight…it involves the US Coast Guard!
